Press Pause

Leonardo Maurizio

Walking through the city streets, Leonardo often comes across undefined objects, waiting to be sorted so they can fulfill their intended purpose. This experience has led him to reflect on timely themes such as production and consumption, intrinsic processes tied to our passage on Earth.

The constant need to add new objects to our shopping carts drives an excessive, yet almost inevitable, level of consumption, fueled by relentless demand. From this unceasing production, identical serial objects arise, which are assembled, packaged, and ready for their destination.

At the core of this exhibition lies the notion of transition understood as an event unfolding over time. It manifests as a moment, a pause, a temporary place destined to shift and change. Leonardo's aim is to reflect on the transitional moment between production and distribution, a process often invisible but crucial for the cycle of consumption.

If we consider the urban ground as a living space, we can recognize how many of the materials that inhabit it exist only according to a functional role assigned to them. They lay around, waiting to be activated by human interaction.

The installations and the artworks presented, aim at making this connection visible, inviting visitors to enter a conceptual assembly line, where these concealed structures can be observed and questioned. Leonardo tries to show how within them we are not only observers, but part of a broader system of production and expectations that the cities we live in stage on a daily basis.

Info

Leonardo Maurizio is a visual artist inspired by urban spaces and all of the things that live in it. His research is influenced by graffiti, the urban world and everything that surrounds these subcultures. Leonardo collects his visual impressions, personal experiences, sensations and vibrations and channels them into his art.

The result of his explorations is an almost obsessive focus on gesture, a fundamental and ever-present element in his work. His mark-making is expressed through compositions, layers and chaotic, vibrant interweavings.

In his works, Leonardo's goal is to create and convey tension and emotional intensity.
